Ahh reminds me of how I used to type before Pie and Savio brainwashed me in grammar. Yes Factions is coming some what in Spring. Empty? I think not the many people will still play Chapter 1, and I belive Chapter 1 and 2 can intertwine with each other meaning they can cross into both chapters. If you have chapter 1 you can merge it with Chapter 2 gaining 2 more charcter slots, and yes buying Chapter 2 will not erase Chapter 1.

Intelligent question(s)? Why search for answers when fools like me have nothing better to do...

1. Factions should be released April 28.

2. No, people will still play in Chapter 1 (maybe not as many, but new players might join after they've tried Factions).

3. Your characters will still be there when you buy Factions. You can even play them in Cantha if you've gotten to Lion's Arch.

4. Do I know what you're talking about? Read my answers and let me know.

(dang, fiery beat me to it)

If you spelled better they might know what you are talking about ^.^ So I fixed it up

A majority of people that play now and buy Factions will start playing Factions only, so for the most part the main game will be rather empty. But then there will be those who start new characters in Factions and bring them over to the first game to mess around, etc.

If you buy Factions and add it to your account you will have 2 more slots added for creating new characters, your other 4 characters will still be there.

It seems kinda odd. But if you start a new character at lvl1 in factions I'm sure theres like a "pre-searing tutorial type area" and then you move on to the post area. The first mission areas you will be low level, say maybe lvl 6 or 7 once you've crossed over to post. Will I then be expected to compete to get into a mission group with lvl20 players? Say for instance, I currently have 4 level 20 characters in the first chapter that will be able to cross over to faction once its released and I merge my accounts. I would expect the first missions in factions to be around the same difficulty level as my factions character level. say lvl 6 or 7 monsters.

I can see it now.

Pro runner completing mission and bonus, only 2k!...invite self...guaranteed to complete mission.

Am I mistaken, or does anyone else see problems with this?

so who is to stop it from happening now in ascalon. If someone enjoys the game getting run to different places, let them enjoy it that way. Enjoy it the way you enjoy the game, I will enjoy it my way, and the runners and runees will enjoy the game they want to.

Yes, I fully understand what your saying, and I believe that you should play the game you like. However, it seems that A-net is shooting themselves in the foot by creating beautiful landscapes and missions to be enjoyed, only to be overlooked because its easier to get run to the next town or have the mission ran for you. It's not giving "factions" much of a chance imo. Who knows, I'll probably be one of those runners.

rok, i know there will still be players in vannila GW....not everyone has gotten to lions arch even...

and mordeki, you have to have accended to pass a prophecies character to factions, so you have to have compleated the accention process first, then go to lions arch lol...
(thats a bugbear i need to shoot befor factions comes out, me and a few hundred LFG peeps in elonas and thirsty river ect)

as to charaters vanishing, yeah, their safe unless you *choose* to wipe em...and they say right now if you link the two, you get 2 extra slots and access to both sets of areas (check out the thread on 6 char slots conferemed thing)

why would they, (a net) care if players run or get run, provided they dont scam?
they see small time, non bot farming as a viable playstyle, and i think view running (the not scamming version) as the same...i dont see them clamping down on players that use the traders to make cash ether...

So, the current question is "What level of content will we face when we Sail over to Cantha with our Level 20 Chars?" (note to Rayea: as pointed out in another thread, Ascended could just mean level 20, not actually someone who's done the Ascension quest).

I'm guessing that the Port City for Cantha (Seitung Harbor, I believe is what it's called) will be higher level in Cantha, say level 15+.

Now, I'm sure people could get there faster, but I suspect that if you do all the missions, etc., your Cantha character would be at least level 15 when you arrived at the Harbor, possibly higher. That's not too large a gap from the level 20s arriving from Lion's Arch.

thats what i was to believe if we go from lions arch on boat going to new area we are not going to the begining of the new area we will go to a mid ranged area

also i dont know about you guys but i plan on playing every mission one time from the begining with my new charactor

its a pitty to have somone run to end game or close to it on there first charactor

I was thinking about this also. What level of content will await us in Cantha?

Will it be low level so that you can play your new characters there without having to drag 'em and level 'em all the way through the 1st chapter before beginning your new adventures? This will mean that there won't be much of a challenge for your existing high level characters though. Imagine having to fight level 6 and 7 nasties again with your level 20.

Will it be high level so that your high level characters can continue on their merry way through tough battles and worthwhile rewards? This will mean that new characters starting in Cantha will have no chance though and will be slaughtered before they even make it to the first outpost.

Hmm. Quite the conundrum.

OK, here's what we know:

Factions is a stand alone game. That leads me to say it will have content for new characters from levels 1-20.

Factions is also an expansion. That means it will also have plenty of content for those already Level 20.

I'm thinking we can have our cake and eat it too!

Yup, cake. And eating it.

I am certain you won't be able to take a boat to the 'training area' (I hate calling it pre-searing, since the Searing would have no meaning in Cantha...).

It's even possible that you won't be able to backtrack geographically. In other words, you may have to complete a mission to get to higher level areas, and if you cross from Lion's Arch, you haven't completed those missions (and can't run them backwards) so there's an area that you can't get to. Like trying to get to the Runes of Surmia without doing a mission.

Someone was posting that with Factions 80% of the content is for lvl 20 characters where only 20% is set up for lvl 20 character in chapter 1, so if this is true, coming in at lvl 20 is not that big of an issue. This would also imply far more "content" or a much much longer "pre" in factions.

If someone can confirm or deny this, please post.

3. Your characters will still be there when you buy Factions. You can even play them in Cantha if you've gotten to Lion's Arch.

I thought they actually had to have been ascended before they can travel to cantha, maybe I am wrong.
